The Garden Planning Session

The Garden Planning Session

The Garden Planning Session

Easily the most invaluable service I offer! This is my favorite because it’s where we combine your dream and my organic farming and personal gardening experience and make a PLAN. I’ll guide you through the steps of choosing the best garden location, what you’ll grow, and most importantly, when and how you’ll plant and care for each of the crops in your kitchen garden! The worst thing is investing into a great garden set up just to deprive your plants of the best chance at flourishing. The Garden Planning Session equips you with a personalized kitchen garden plan designed with core organic gardening principles in mind that you’ll be referencing year after year.

  • You can plant your kitchen garden directly into the ground but there are a number of reasons that I personally suggest installing raised beds if your garden aspirations have outgrown patio pots and containers. Check out this blog post to learn the advantages of raised beds. Installing a raised bed garden can be a lot of work! Luckily, I sell raised bed kits as well as offer custom installs during certain times of the year! Check out the raised bed kit options available in our shop OR shoot me an email letting me know when you are wanting your garden built!

  • The best day ever in my opinion. Well, maybe second to harvest day… You can reference your Kitchen Garden Plan from The Garden Planning Session and do this part on your own. But, if you are a newer gardener I would highly recommend having me join you for this very important step in your gardening journey. We’ll work as team to plant out your garden and I’ll coach you to give your seeds and plants the very best chance at thriving in your garden. I try to make this service as educational as possible! Even better, I show up with all the necessary plants, seeds, organic fertilizer, and labels needed to follow your garden plan to a “t”! (Seeds and starts sourced from local farmers and family-owned nurseries whenever possible).

  • Maintenance: Let’s say you want all the benefits of food grown right out your backdoor but your just too busy to maintain it all season long. That’s where I come in! I’ll keep your garden in tip-top shape and even harvest your garden bounty so it’s ready for you to throw in a meal when you get back from a long day or trip.

  • Maybe you’ve never done this before and gardening is just so foreign to you that you need someone experienced at your side until you get the hang of things (which happens faster than you expect!). Or maybe gardening isn’t so new but you don’t understand why some of your plants aren’t thriving like you know they should be. Think of this as a one-on-one personal training session but for your garden. We’ll spend this time answering any questions you have and learning about how to specifically cultivate each plant variety in your garden at the time of my visit.

  • So you have a garden. Or maybe you don’t but you plan to start one. And instead of just knowing WHAT to do have a successful garden - you also want to know WHY. This is where we get nerdy. This is where we cover things like growth habit, plant families, crop rotation, and the difference between short day and long day onions! In these courses, you’ll learn foundational gardening principles, tips and tricks that will equip you to do your own garden planning, problem solving, and experimenting… which I’ve found ultimately leads to more fun and more success in the garden!
